Feel Some Type of Wave ๐ต๐
Feel Some Type of Wave was our newest youth album project throughout 2025 in collaboration with Grove Park Youth Club and funded and supported by Youth Music using public funding public funding by the Nation Lottery. Over 36 weeks our music studio sessions invited local young people age 11-17, up to 21 SEND, to express themselves musically, with a mental health and wellbeing focus through creativity, mentoring and access to a bespoke youth music studio.
Sessions allowed participants to learn and/or develop songwriting, rap, vocals, beat making and programming, production, keyboards, using Logic Pro software, guitar, music video creation and more. The project supported young people with or without musical experience in expressing themselves and using music as an outlet for their mental health and wellbeing. Our young people were encouraged to create music inspired by their authentic lived experiences and their thoughts and feelings.
The funding received allowed our lead facilitator to receive training in Mental Health First Aid and Level 2 Child Counselling. This helped support the young participants more effectively and competently. Young people opened up in sessions and were able to write about their personal stories and experiences.
Over 70% reported an improvement in overall wellbeing since attending the sessions over the year.
One young person said โI feel anxious some days after school but when I attend Beats Lab sessions I feel calmer and proud of myself after working on my music.โ.
18 full tracks were proudly released on this youth album!

Project Facilitator Team
Annalise Morley
Delivering sessions weekly
Songwriter/Producer
Annalise is the founder and project manager of Beats Lab. She has known some of our young people since the very beginning days of Grove Park Youth Club reopening in 2021 and has been making music with the GPYC community since then, therefore all GPYC projects are very dear to her heart!
This project Annalise will be undergoing Level 2 training in Child Counselling Skills to increase her ability to support wellbeing further than her current knowledge base in all things music creation.
Being the lead facilitator at Beats Lab she has observed that songwriting is a powerful tool for mental health as young people will often open up about things during the songwriting process.
Annalise is looking forward to expanding her skill set and better supporting the young peopleโs wellbeing in collaboration with the already brilliant youth club wellbeing team.
